Hands Busy? Trigger Computer Actions by Foot
Use Elgato Stream Deck Pedal for hands-busy computer commands. Check app setup, wired USB requirements and the center-footrest tradeoff before buying.
Need to trigger a computer action without taking your hands off an instrument or keyboard? The Elgato Stream Deck Pedal puts three configurable controls under your foot. It can send a supported recording, scene-switching or mute command—but only after you set up the Stream Deck software and the target app.
It is a computer controller, not an audio pass-through pedal or a hardware switch that cuts every microphone. That distinction matters more than the number of buttons.

Start with the command your hands cannot reach
Picture finishing a take while both hands are occupied. The useful purchase is not simply “three more shortcuts.” It is a way to move that particular recording command to your foot. Before buying, identify the command and check how your recording or presentation app exposes it.
Stream Deck uses keyboard shortcuts or plugins to control apps. Set up the action you need, then check its behavior in your actual workflow. A mute action in one app is not a promise that every other app—or the whole computer—is muted. You do not need a separate desktop Stream Deck, but you do need the computer software.

The computer is still part of the setup
Elgato currently lists Windows 11 or newer, macOS 13 or newer, a USB-C port and the free Stream Deck app. Do not rely on older operating-system claims from past listings.
This is a wired USB device. The product-side port is USB-C; verify the cable and computer-end connector in the package you select. Retail imagery and cable descriptions are not consistent enough to promise that every box has the same computer-end plug. A charge-only cable is not a substitute for a suitable data connection.

Three actions—or two actions and a footrest
The included spring sets offer soft, medium and hard resistance, with medium fitted by default. That lets you change the resistance rather than being stuck with one setting. It does not establish how the pedal will feel under your shoe; we have not tested it.

There is a more important layout choice: fitting the two center stoppers locks the middle pedal into a footrest. It can no longer move or be pressed. You keep the two side controls, but give up the middle action—not gain a fourth control.
Decide which commands truly need a foot trigger, then choose between three active pedals and the center-footrest configuration. If your essential app command cannot be mapped, changing the spring tension will not solve that software limitation.
