Is the BISSELL Featherweight Enough for a Hard-Floor Apartment?

Consider the blue BISSELL Featherweight 2033 for everyday dry pickup in a mostly hard-floor apartment. Its removable handle and included crevice tool cover floor and small handheld jobs. The trade-offs are a 15-foot cord and regular filter care; skip it if your main need is deep carpet cleaning.

Where it fits

The Featherweight is a corded, bagless vacuum for surface dirt on sealed hard floors and low-pile rugs. It makes sense for dry crumbs and scattered debris in a kitchen or small living area, rather than as a replacement for every cleaning tool you own.

With the long handle attached, use it as a floor vacuum. Remove the handle for handheld use, or use the floor nozzle on the handheld unit for stairs. The included crevice tool gives you a separate attachment for narrow spaces. Use extra care on stairs and keep the cord out of your path.

Check the outlet before buying

The 15-foot power cord is the limitation to think through first. Check where your outlets are relative to the floors you want to clean. If you would constantly need to stop and move the plug, decide whether that routine will put you off using it.

This model does not run on a rechargeable battery. Keep the cord clear of the nozzle, door edges and hot surfaces; do not pull the vacuum along by its cord.

Allow for filter care

The bagless cup still needs emptying, and the filter needs attention. The manual recommends cleaning the filter after each use. Turn the vacuum off and unplug it before removing the cup or filter.

Shake loose debris from the filter over a trash can. If you wash it as directed after heavy use, let it dry completely before reinstalling it. The cup must also be completely dry if rinsed. Never run the vacuum with a wet filter or with the filter missing.

Keep it to dry indoor household cleanup. Do not use it for wet spills, broken glass or hot ash.

Buy it for a specific gap

Choose the BISSELL Featherweight 2033 in Blue, one vacuum with a crevice tool, if your main job is modest dry pickup and the cord and filter routine fit your home.

For thick carpet or substantial embedded pet hair, keep a suitable existing vacuum rather than buying this as its replacement. If your broom or vacuum already handles the small hard-floor jobs, skip the extra tool.
