Bialetti Moka Express on Induction: The Pot Alone Is Not Enough
The aluminum Moka Express is not directly induction-compatible. Here is what the separate plate requirement means before you buy the six-cup pot.
The aluminum Bialetti Moka Express cannot be used directly on an induction cooktop. Bialetti specifies its induction plate for that setup. The six-cup pot linked here does not include the plate, so buying the pot alone does not complete an induction coffee setup.
For gas or conventional electric heat, the Moka Express is a stovetop coffee maker. For induction, resolve the plate compatibility first—or look for a coffee maker explicitly designed for direct induction use.
The extra piece sits between the pot and the cooktop
The Moka Express has an aluminum body. Bialetti lists gas and electric compatibility, but makes induction use conditional on its induction plate. That is different from a pot with a directly induction-compatible base.

Before ordering an adapter, check that the particular Bialetti plate is specified for the six-cup Moka Express and is allowed by your cooktop's instructions. This guide does not verify a particular plate SKU or compatibility with every induction model. A generic metal disc is not an established substitute.
Also check what kind of cooktop you have. A glass surface alone does not identify induction: consult the appliance model or manual rather than treating every smooth-top electric stove as induction.
On gas or electric heat, it is still a stovetop pot

There is no built-in heater or power cord. You prepare the pot and heat it on the stove; it is not an automatic countertop coffee machine. On gas, the manual says the flame must stay within the base. Follow the supplied instructions for your heat source rather than using a photograph to choose a heat setting.
The assembly and cleanup are part of the purchase
The lower chamber holds water, a separate funnel holds Moka-ground coffee, and the upper section collects the brew. The funnel is not an espresso-machine portafilter: Bialetti says not to press the grounds down.

Expect hand cleaning, not a dishwasher cycle. Bialetti directs rinsing with water without detergent or abrasive materials, then drying the parts. The pot is not dishwasher-safe.
Read the supplied manual before first use. Keep water at the specified level below the safety valve, do not run the pot dry or unattended, and let it cool completely before opening or cleaning. Check that the parts are intact and correctly fitted; use replacements specified for this model. If it malfunctions, stop using it and contact the seller or manufacturer.
Choose the six-cup aluminum listing—not an induction bundle
The linked selection is one Moka Express in 6 Cups / Aluminium. “Six cups” means small coffee servings, not six American mugs. We do not give a precise fluid yield because the listing's volume figures conflict.

For an induction kitchen, the deciding detail is the separately sourced, correctly matched plate—not the six-cup label. Check that accessory and your cooktop instructions before purchasing this aluminum version.
This guide uses Bialetti documentation and supplier photographs, not hands-on testing. The scene photos show the Moka Express family; they do not establish the exact size of the photographed pot or measured brewing performance.
