Does Your Camera Need a Quick-Release Strap?
Keep a camera strap that already works. Consider removable connectors and manual length adjustment only when they solve a recurring carrying or storage problem.
Keep the strap you already own if it adjusts as you need and is easy to use and put away. A replacement makes more sense when you regularly want to remove the strap from your camera or change its carrying length.
The Peak Design Leash offers removable Anchor Link connectors and manual length adjustment. This guide covers one Black Leash set, model L-BL-3, for carrying a compact or mirrorless camera you already own. It does not replace a tripod for framing a photograph.
Decide whether removable ends would help
Think about when your current strap gets in the way. If removing it means repeatedly unthreading and refitting webbing, a detachable connection may be useful. If you usually leave a suitable strap attached, quick-release ends alone may add little.
With this system, the small corded Anchors attach to the camera and the strap connects to them. Check your exact camera’s attachment points and the space around its controls. Follow the supplied attachment instructions; do not force cords through eyelets or modify the camera to make them fit.

Check length and carrying position
The Leash has two manual length adjusters and 19 mm-wide nylon webbing. Decide whether changing length during your usual outings would solve a problem your existing strap cannot.

Compare your preferred camera position with your current strap, including the clothing you normally wear. A narrow strap and a product photo cannot establish comfort with your camera and lens. If comfort is the main reason to replace yours, try the setup in person rather than buying from a picture alone.

The minimum-length specifications disagree. Peak Design’s current product specifications list 830 mm (32.6 inches), while its currently linked 2020 manual lists 81 cm (32 inches). Both give a maximum of 145 cm. If the shortest setting matters to you, confirm the current measurement with Peak Design before ordering.
Know which fittings come with it
Peak Design lists one Leash, four Anchors, one Anchor Mount, a 4 mm hex wrench and a microfiber pouch in the standard box. Confirm the selected seller’s contents. Cameras and lenses in the photos are not included.
The included Anchor Mount provides a bottom-of-camera strap attachment. It is not a tripod plate and is not compatible with a tripod or Capture. If you already use a tripod plate, check the attachment arrangement before buying; do not assume another plate or accessory is required.
Connector inspection remains part of ownership. Follow the supplied instructions for attachment and wear checks. The manual linked by Peak Design says to replace an Anchor if its yellow inner core becomes visible. Photos do not establish the Anchor generation or how long it will last.
Check whether it improves storage

A removable strap may be useful when packing your camera, but the coiled photo is not a size measurement. Check the space you actually use. If your current strap already packs neatly, compact storage is not a reason by itself to replace it.
Buy for a specific carrying problem
Consider the Leash when removable ends or length changes would solve a recurring inconvenience and you have confirmed the fit of your camera setup. Keep an adequate owned strap. Wait if attachment compatibility or the shortest usable length remains unresolved.
If those checks are clear, view the Peak Design Leash Black on Amazon. Confirm Black and model L-BL-3 rather than another color, strap model or accessory bundle.
