OXO Garlic Press: What the Flip-Over Cleaner Does
The OXO 11107400 uses red pins to push residue out of its holes. See the pressing and handle-flip sequence, plus the washing that still remains.
The OXO Good Grips Garlic Press uses red pins to push leftover garlic out of its holes when you flip the handles over. It does not wash itself. If trapped pulp is the part of using a garlic press you dislike, that built-in cleaner is the reason to consider model 11107400. Rinsing or dishwasher cleaning still follows.
From the chamber to the holes
The open chamber holds the cloves before you squeeze. OXO describes it as large-capacity, and the Amazon listing says it accepts multiple cloves. Neither gives a fixed number; clove size changes what fits.

Closing the handles drives garlic through the perforated face. The photo below shows that pressing stage—not the cleaning action. This is a press for crushed garlic, rather than a tool for choosing between slices and chopped pieces.

Reverse the handles to clear the holes
After pressing, flip the handles over. The red cleaning pins meet the holes and push out leftover pulp and skins. The cleaner is built into the press, so this step uses the tool itself rather than a separate cleaning attachment.

That distinction matters when a listing calls this press “self-cleaning.” The pins address residue caught in the holes; they do not remove the need to wash the chamber and the rest of the tool. The listing calls for rinsing, and OXO marks this model dishwasher-safe.
Check the body, not just the cleaner
Model 11107400 has a die-cast zinc body, not a stainless steel one. Its silver-colored body and black grips are visible in the product photos; those colors do not establish separate variants.

The soft, nonslip handles are another part of the design, but they do not establish how much squeezing force you will need. We have not tested grip comfort, garlic yield or how completely the pins clear every hole.
