Is a Pocket Blanket Worth Carrying for Outdoor Sitting Stops?
A pocketable groundsheet can suit frequent park and beach breaks. Compare its thin surface, open size and folding routine with a towel or blanket you already own.
A short park lunch or beach break can be a good reason to carry a small groundsheet. It is a weaker reason to buy one if a towel or blanket you already own covers the spot and fits your day bag.
The Matador Pocket Blanket, Regular is worth considering when you often want a dedicated sitting surface but leave bulkier options at home. Its main trade-off is simple: a small packed shape, with no cushioning.
Start with the space you need

The listed open size is 63 × 44 inches. Compare that rectangle with your usual sitting arrangement, including bags and stretched-out legs. Do not choose it on a head-count claim alone.
The thin sheet follows the ground beneath it. If the problem is an uncomfortable hard surface, a padded seat or an existing cushioned seating option is the better starting point. Do not buy this for warmth or insulation from cold ground.
Buy for the smaller carry, not a softer seat

The listed packed size is 4.5 × 2.7 × 1.1 inches. Check that against the space left in your bag. The attached pouch gives the folded sheet a home without a separate stuff sack.
If you already carry a suitable swim towel and are happy to use it for sitting, another item may add little. A dedicated groundsheet makes more sense when you want to keep your drying towel out of that job. It does not replace a towel for drying off.
Let the ground decide

Matador lists integrated corner stakes and sand pockets. Those give you options for holding the corners where conditions suit them; they do not make every surface stake-friendly or the sheet windproof. Follow the supplied instructions for those features.
The manufacturer describes the fabric as water resistant. Treat that as a limited barrier, not a promise of a dry seat on soaked ground. It offers no padding against stones and should not be chosen as protection from sharp ground.
Allow for folding it away

Matador’s printed Easy-Pack Pattern guides repeated folds before the sheet slides into its attached pocket. That is a different routine from tossing a towel into a bag. Consider whether you will want to fold a used groundsheet at the end of each stop; follow the received care label for cleaning.
The version to check
The linked item is Charcoal / Regular, one blanket, model MATL5001BK. Matador calls the matching version Black because its pouch is black; the sheet itself is charcoal. This guide is not about the Mini or XL.

Buy it if frequent ground-sitting stops justify a dedicated sheet and smaller packed size matters more than softness. Keep what you own if your existing towel or blanket already does the job, or choose padded seating when comfort is the missing feature.
