Will the Frost King Nine-Sheet Window Kit Fit Your Windows?

Frost King indoor Window Insulation Shrink Kit box labeled 9 Pack, nine individual 42 by 62-inch sheets, and 0.75 mil; the top tab reads V73/9.
Frost King V73/9H: nine individual 42 × 62-inch sheets, not a roll. Printed savings statements are packaging claims, not results verified by this guide.

Short answer: Consider the Frost King V73/9H indoor kit for winter windows you can leave closed, provided they are not needed for emergency escape or regular ventilation and their frame surfaces and measurements pass the checks below. If your existing seals already keep the room comfortable, skip this purchase.

First, choose which windows to leave uncovered

The film must be removed to open the window, according to the Amazon product description. Leave out any window you rely on for routine fresh air, and do not cover a window needed for emergency escape. A window you rarely open can still be an important way out.

The U.S. Fire Administration’s escape-planning guidance calls for two ways out of each room and unobstructed doors and windows. Our buying recommendation is to exclude necessary escape windows; we have not established a quick-release solution for this film.

Check what the tape would touch

The Frost King instruction sheet permits metal, painted wood and vinyl. It excludes wallpaper, wallboard, plaster and veneer. Inspect the entire planned tape path around the frame and along the bottom sill, not just a small patch of trim. The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease.

If the tape would cross onto an excluded surface, or you cannot identify the surface, pause before ordering. An allowed material is not a guarantee that an existing finish will stay undamaged. Renters should also check any restrictions on adhesive use.

Before buying: leave necessary escape and regular ventilation windows uncovered; tape only to metal, painted wood or vinyl, not wallpaper, wallboard, plaster or veneer.
Two separate checks: the window’s role and the tape-contact surface. Original buying checklist, not a certification of a particular window.

Measure for each sheet, not for the number on the box

This exact kit contains nine individual clear sheets, each 42 × 62 inches. It is not a continuous roll. The manufacturer’s specification table identifies this nine-sheet kit as V73/9H.

Measure the full area you intend to enclose at the taped perimeter in both directions, including the frame and bottom sill. Do not measure only the glass. The instructions require at least one inch of film beyond the edge all around; allow for that on every side when comparing your measurements with a 42 × 62-inch sheet.

Illustrative front view: measure across the intended tape perimeter and vertically to the bottom sill, then allow at least one inch of extra film beyond every edge.
Not to scale. The sheet dimensions are not a guaranteed window-opening size. Leave the required surplus outside the attachment edge.

Count only windows that pass the opening, surface and size checks. “Nine sheets” does not promise a fit for every group of nine windows. If one window is too large, do not assume joining sheets will solve it; the matched instructions do not establish that method.

Allow for the setup before you buy

This is an adhesive-and-heat project, not a film you simply hang over the glass. Double-sided tape is included in the package. You will need to provide a measuring tape, scissors and a hair dryer, the tools shown in the supplied directions. For heat shrinking, they specify the dryer’s highest setting, held 4–6 inches from the film. Never let the hot dryer touch the plastic. Follow the complete instructions supplied with your kit.
