Do You Need a Travel Towel for a Hostel or Swim Stop?

Ask which towels are supplied and whether you may take them off-site. If you need your own, test coverage and packed space with a towel at home, then plan where it will go while damp.

Measure the job before buying another towel.

Check what your stay already provides

Ask whether towels are supplied or rented, and whether you may take them off-site. A hostel shower and an afternoon swim are different needs. If a suitable towel is provided everywhere you need one, keep the extra space in your bag.

If you bring your own, decide whether its main job is drying your body, giving wrap coverage or providing a place to sit. The smallest towel is useful only if it does that job comfortably.

Test coverage, then packed space

A towel folded narrower beside a tape measure, followed by a rolled towel next to an open packed day bag.
Left: use your own towel for a coverage mockup. Right: test that towel’s packed space. Its thickness and bulk do not represent PackTowl. Illustrations are not to scale and do not establish product fit.

For the researched PackTowl Personal Body example, mark a 25 × 54-inch rectangle and fold a towel you own to that size. Test drying, sitting and any wrap overlap while moving. A size name alone does not establish fit. This home mockup tests coverage, not PackTowl’s thickness or packed bulk.

Roll or fold your existing towel into your normally packed bag. Check what it displaces and whether you can reach it easily. If it already works for the itinerary, take it rather than buying a replacement.

A specific size reference

PackTowl lists its Personal Body, Balance Print at 25 × 54 inches and 6.4 ounces, with a hanging loop. The Body-size table pairs Balance with SKU 13872. These are manufacturer specifications, not our measurements. A Body towel may be less suitable if you want a generous beach-lounging surface.

Plan where the damp towel goes next

A generic green towel opened over an indoor drying rack, an empty open pouch nearby, and dry clothes, a notebook and phone on a separate shelf.
Open the towel at the next suitable stop and let it dry as its care label allows. AI-generated editorial illustration of a generic towel and pouch, not PackTowl product photography. No drying time or exact packed size is shown.

During a short transfer, keep damp items away from papers, electronics and dry clothing. At the next suitable stop, remove the towel and open it out where the accommodation permits. Do not leave it bundled in a pouch and expect it to dry there.

PackTowl recommends washing before first use, cold washing with similar colors, no bleach, ironing or fabric softener, and air drying or low tumble drying. Follow the label on the towel you receive and dry it fully before long-term storage. No product claim can establish how long it will take in your room.
