TP-Link UB500: Bluetooth for a Windows PC, Not Your Console

Product guide

Choose the UB500 for a supported Windows PC. Check controller use through the PC, first-connection internet needs and the exact revision offered.

The TP-Link UB500 is a way to add Bluetooth accessories to a supported Windows PC. For a Windows 11 desktop without Bluetooth, it belongs on your shortlist. For a television or game console, choose a solution made for that host instead.

Start with the device receiving the adapter

  • Windows PC: the intended host. Check your Windows version and the accessory you want to pair.
  • PS5, PS4 or Xbox console: the selected listing excludes direct console use.
  • TV, Mac or Linux computer: outside the listed support.

Accessory examples, not included items or a promise that every device feature works. The computer is the host.

The controller picture is easy to misread. It represents a Bluetooth controller connecting through a Windows PC, not permission to put the adapter in a console. Check the controller’s own PC connection requirements too; the picture cannot confirm every button, audio feature or game.

Leave room for the first connection

UB500 uses a USB-A port. The selected listing’s plug-and-play claim for Windows 11, 10 and 8.1 includes an internet requirement. Plan for that connection before relying on it at a desk without network access.

Physical USB-A placement only. The styled laptop is not evidence of macOS support; this adapter is for supported Windows PCs.

Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 are different entries: the listing excludes Windows 8. It lists Windows 7 with a separate driver requirement, which is not a recommendation to use an older operating system.

Check UB500 and the offered revision

The current manufacturer image carries UB500 and Bluetooth 5.4 markings. Check the exact revision offered by the seller.

The current Amazon listing and manufacturer gallery advertise Bluetooth 5.4. TP-Link’s page also retains older 5.3 wording lower down. If the version matters to your accessory, verify the seller’s exact hardware revision rather than relying on the UB500 name alone.

The useful purchase is the one that matches your Windows host and intended accessory. We have not tested pairing, range or gaming latency, and a Bluetooth version number alone does not establish those results.
