For frequent small batches of washed greens or herbs, the OXO Little Salad and Herb Spinner offers a hand-powered drying step that a draining basket does not. Choose the Small white version when its basket suits your usual amount. The main trade-off is another rigid bowl, basket and lid to wash and store; larger amounts may mean several batches.
Buy for the drying step, not just rinsing
A colander lets rinse water drain away. This spinner adds a pump-driven basket to remove water from washed leaves. That is the reason to consider it for salad prep—not simply because your kitchen lacks another strainer.
The pump works without a cord, and a separate brake button stops the basket. Do not read the listing’s one-pump advertising as a promise that every amount of greens will be dry after one press. We have not measured its drying performance.
Check basket capacity, not just bowl capacity
OXO lists a 3.03-quart outer bowl and a 2.44-quart basket. Those are different capacities, not a measured number of servings or a recommended fill line. Consider the amount of leaves you usually prepare rather than treating the bowl’s headline number as usable spinning space.
For larger amounts, plan on dividing the work into smaller batches rather than packing the basket full. If that extra repetition sounds inconvenient, a compact spinner may not match your routine. This is a small-batch choice, not a claim that it handles any salad in one go.
Find a home for a rigid bowl
Both OXO and the selected Amazon listing give overall dimensions of 8 × 8 × 7 inches. Check your shelf opening and nearby items before buying. We have not verified a separate locked-down height.
The pump locks against the lid for storage, but the bowl itself does not fold. Keep enough room to lift it out without rearranging the whole shelf.
Allow for cleanup after the salad
The basket lifts out, the outer bowl can serve the salad, and the lid comes apart for cleaning. OXO labels the spinner dishwasher-safe; the selected Amazon listing specifies the top rack. Follow the care instructions supplied with your unit.
Think about where the parts will be washed and dried as well as where the assembled spinner will live. Using the outer bowl for serving may be convenient, but it does not eliminate cleanup. We have not verified an airtight seal or a food-storage performance claim.
