Remove Travel Lint with a Scotch-Brite Mini Roller

Check for loose lint, extend the Mini Travel roller, peel a loaded sheet and retract it for packing. A simple before-meeting cleanup.

A dark shirt can pick up pale hairs just getting out of your suitcase. For a quick touch-up before a meeting, use a fresh adhesive sheet, light pressure and a clean place to work.

Start with the right kind of lint

Check the care label and test an inconspicuous area first. Loose hairs and surface lint are different from attached pills or a pulled thread. Stop if the fabric catches, lifts or changes appearance; do not tug a snag or try to roll away attached fiber balls.

Three close-ups compare loose hairs, attached fabric pills and a pulled yarn loop.
Left to right: loose hair, attached pills and a snag. Only the loose surface fibers belong in this quick cleanup.

Open the Scotch-Brite Mini Travel roller

This 30-sheet Mini Travel model has a straight retractable roll inside its cover. Hold the casing and move its button along the slot toward the roll end to extend it into the open position. The package identifies this as “push and lock to open.” Leave the cover attached: it becomes the handle.

Roll, check, then refresh the sheet

  1. Support the garment. Lay it on a clean, dry surface. Keep it clear of damp bathroom counters and shedding towels.
  2. Roll lightly. Hold the casing and let the exposed white cylinder roll across the fabric. Work a small section, then check it. Start with the shoulders, chest and sleeves rather than scrubbing one spot.
  3. Peel the used layer. When the sheet is loaded with lint, lift its edge and peel off the used sheet along its tear line. Discard it and continue with the clean adhesive underneath. Do not compensate for a dirty sheet by pressing harder.

Retract it before it goes back in your bag

Use the same slotting button to return the roll into the casing, moving away from the roll end into the closed position. Check that the adhesive surface is inside the cover before packing it beside clothes. Then check the back of your shirt in a mirror and keep it away from the sweater or towel that shed onto it.
