Osprey Stuff Pack vs. Daylite: Backup Bag or Everyday Daypack?
Choose the Osprey Ultralight Stuff Pack if your day bag needs to disappear into your main luggage between outings. Choose the Daylite if you will carry it independently most days and want a foam backpanel and more organization. Keep your current bag if it already handles the job.
Start with where the bag goes between outings
If your main bag stays at the hotel and you only need a spare for a few hours out, the packable Stuff Pack makes sense. If you expect to carry a daypack through travel days, errands and sightseeing, the Daylite gives you a more organized layout. Neither choice is a reason to buy two bags.
The Stuff Pack is listed at 18 liters and the Daylite at 13 liters. That larger number does not make the Stuff Pack the better everyday pack or establish how much weight you should carry. Decide whether compact storage or daily organization matters more, then check that your usual essentials fit.
Stuff Pack: for a spare that rides inside your luggage

The Osprey Ultralight Stuff Pack is built around packability. Its simple main compartment suits a light layer and a few destination-day essentials, with two stretch side pockets and a key clip for items you want to keep separate.
The trade-off is organization and back structure. Its soft back does not have the Daylite’s foam panel, and the layout gives you fewer dedicated places for small items. If you regularly dig through a bag for a charger, keys and a notebook, compact storage may be the wrong priority.

This is not an unpadded-strap sack: it has padded mesh shoulder straps and an adjustable sternum strap. Those features are useful to know about, but they do not establish how it will feel with your load.

Daylite: for the bag you carry most days

The Osprey Daylite adds a front organization pocket with a key clip and a separate interior sleeve. Its panel-loading main compartment opens broadly, while side compression straps let you cinch the bag around a smaller load.
Those divisions are the reason to consider it for frequent use: you can keep small items out of the main compartment rather than repacking everything whenever you need your keys. The interior sleeve is not a promise that a particular laptop will fit or be protected.

The mesh-covered, die-cut foam backpanel and removable webbing hipbelt are visible differences from the Stuff Pack’s simpler construction. The cost is luggage space: plan to carry the Daylite separately or make room for its backpanel inside your main bag, rather than treating it as a tiny packed spare.

Try your existing bag before adding another
Pack what you would actually take on a destination day and walk around with it. If your current daypack works, keep it. If emptying your main backpack at the hotel gives you a useful day bag, you may not need a second one at all.
Buy for the missing job: the Stuff Pack for compact backup storage, or the Daylite for a regularly carried bag with more separation and a foam backpanel. If electronics dominate your load, check their measurements and protection needs before choosing either.
Research note: Based on Osprey’s product information, the exact Amazon listings and product photos, not hands-on testing. Check the selected model, color, seller and condition before ordering; availability can change.
