Escali Primo Chrome: Is It Enough for Everyday Baking?

Chrome Escali Primo digital kitchen scale with an empty round platform and two buttons beside its display.

Choose the Escali Primo Chrome P115C if you want a simple scale for baking recipes written in whole grams. Its tare button lets you weigh ingredients in a bowl without counting the bowl’s weight. If your existing scale already handles that reliably, there is no reason to replace it.

The main limitation is its 1 g display increment. That is a readout step, not a promise of accuracy within ±1 g. Choose a scale with appropriately finer resolution if your recipe calls for fractions of a gram, rather than rounding those amounts on this one.

A straightforward choice for flour and other ordinary ingredients

This recommendation is for the Chrome option, model P115C, not the separate Metallic or Black variants. The two-button controls cover power, tare, and unit selection. Select grams for a recipe that gives gram weights; this scale does not convert a recipe’s cups into grams for you.

The maximum load is 5,000 g. Count the bowl and everything in it toward that limit, even after pressing tare. A heavy mixing bowl leaves less capacity for ingredients; consider your usual bowl and batch size before buying.

How to weigh into a bowl

  1. Put the scale on a stable, level surface away from vibration, and switch it on. Select grams.
  2. Place the empty bowl on the platform. Press tare to return the displayed weight to zero.
  3. Add the ingredient until the display reaches the weight your recipe requires.
Conceptual tare sequence: place an empty bowl, press tare so the display reads zero, then add an ingredient. The bowl still counts toward the total load limit.
Tare removes the bowl’s weight from the displayed result, not from the scale’s physical load. This is a conceptual diagram, not a product test.

You can tare again before adding another ingredient, but the total load must still stay within 5,000 g. The scale switches off after about four minutes of inactivity, so write down a reading you need to keep before pausing.

Keep it dry

The Primo is not waterproof. Keep moisture away from it and use it at room temperature. Sealed buttons are not permission to immerse or rinse the scale. If you see the overload indication, remove weight.

For ordinary whole-gram baking, the useful features here are simple controls and weighing directly into your bowl. If your priority is tiny fractional-gram quantities or batches beyond the total load limit, choose a scale specified for that job instead.
