Is a Compact Toilet Brush and Canister Worth It for a Small Bathroom?

Consider the white OXO Good Grips Compact Toilet Brush and Canister if you need a dedicated toilet brush and want it stored in a covered holder beside the toilet. Its useful extra is the canister that opens when you lift the brush. The trade-off is another floor-standing item, with a drip tray that still needs attention. Keep your existing brush and holder if that arrangement already works.

The reason to choose the canister

The brush and holder work together: lifting the brush opens the canister, and returning it closes the cover. You do not have to put a separate lid somewhere while you clean. That is the main reason to choose this set over a brush in a simple open holder.

This recommendation is for the white model 1281600, one brush-and-canister set. It is not a multipack or a brush refill.

Compact still needs a usable spot

OXO lists the set at 17 × 4.25 × 4 inches. That gives you a starting point for the space beside your toilet, but the closed footprint is only part of the decision. You also need room to lift the handle and let the canister open without knocking the wall, toilet or a nearby bin.

A narrow gap that hides the holder but makes the brush awkward to retrieve is not a useful storage spot. If the only available space obstructs movement or makes floor cleaning difficult, skip a floor-standing set rather than squeezing it in.

The tray collects water; it does not do the cleaning

The canister includes a drip tray to collect water from the brush. OXO says the drip tray catches water and allows it to evaporate. That is a storage feature, not a reason to leave the holder dirty or assume it sanitizes the brush.

You still need to clean the brush and holder according to their supplied care directions. The cover conceals the brush between uses; it does not remove that maintenance job.

The listing shows the tapered bristle shape. Its cleaning-performance wording is the seller's claim, not a result we measured.

Choose this set for the covered storage and lift-to-open access. A working simpler holder remains a sensible choice if those features would not improve your setup.
